Disaster Recovery Programs

The Government of Alberta has approved disaster recovery programs in new communities to help residents, businesses and not-for-profit organizations recover from flooding caused by severe rainstorms and ice jams in spring 2018. Financial assistance for uninsurable property damage, loss and other related expenses caused by natural disasters is available to municipalities and Albertans under the approved programs.

Application centres

The deadline to apply is January 2, 2019.

Program application centres will be set up in affected communities and the locations will be posted soon. Staff will be available at the centres to answer questions and guide applicants through the process.

Applicants must bring the following documents to the application centre:

  • Government issued photo ID
  • Insurance letter
  • Utility bills 90 days prior to the event
  • If you own the property, the property tax assessment for 2017
  • If you are a tenant, the lease agreement covering the event date
